What self-exclusion is
Self-exclusion is a free tool that lets you block your own access to SapphireBet for a set period. When you self-exclude, we close your ability to log in, deposit and play until the period you chose has ended. It is one of the strongest safer-gambling tools we offer, and asking for it is a sign of strength, not failure. If you feel gambling is no longer fun or under your control, self-exclusion gives you space to step back.
Your options
Different situations call for different breaks, so we offer a range of lengths:
- Cool-off / time-out — a short break, typically from 24 hours up to a few weeks, ideal when you just need to pause
- Longer self-exclusion — a firmer block for an extended period such as [6 months], [1 year] or [longer], for when you want to stop for a good while
- Permanent closure — if you would like to close your account for good, our team can arrange this on request
Not sure which is right for you? Contact support and we will help you choose.
How to request it
Open your account settings
Log in and go to the responsible-gaming or safer-gambling section of your account.
Choose self-exclusion or a time-out
Select the tool and the length of break that suits you.
Confirm your choice
Review and confirm. The restriction is applied to your account straight away.

What happens during self-exclusion
Once your self-exclusion is active:
- You will not be able to log in, deposit or place bets until the period ends
- We stop sending you marketing emails, SMS and promotions
- Any pending withdrawal of your remaining balance can still be processed, subject to verification
- We take reasonable steps to prevent you from opening a new account during the exclusion
Self-exclusion cannot be reversed early. This is intentional — it protects the decision you made when you set it up.
Reinstatement after the period ends
Your account is not automatically reopened when a self-exclusion ends. To return, you will need to contact us and confirm that you wish to resume playing. For your protection, a short cooling-off period may apply before access is restored, and we may ask a few questions to make sure returning is the right choice for you.
Related tools
If a full self-exclusion feels like more than you need, our responsible gaming page explains other tools — deposit limits, loss and wager limits, session time-outs and reality checks — that help you stay in control while continuing to play.
You are not alone
Alongside self-exclusion, we encourage you to speak with a licensed counsellor or a recognised problem-gambling support service in your area. International organisations such as GamCare and Gambling Therapy are examples of services that offer free, confidential help.
